Can you share your background and what brings you to do an internship at Techbros?

I was born in the UK and lived there until I was five, after which my family relocated to Düsseldorf, Germany, where I still reside today. I completed my high school education in April of this year and immediately began searching for internship opportunities to gain practical experience before starting university next year. I was drawn to Techbros because of its innovative approach and I saw it as an ideal place to develop my skills.

As an Intern, how do you usually spend your day?

Currently, my primary responsibility is redesigning and developing the company website, which occupies most of my time. This experience has been extremely valuable in honing my technical and creative skills.

How has your experience interning at Techbros so far? Have you experienced or learned anything new?

My experience at Techbros has been purely positive. From day one, I was encouraged to take the lead and experiment in various departments. After expressing my interest in web development, I was entrusted with the full redesign and development of the Techbros website, which has been an exciting challenge. Additionally, I was tasked with organizing two office events and workshops. This responsibility has helped me develop my organizational and communication skills while fostering a sense of community within the team. Overall, I've gained a deeper understanding of the tech industry and enhanced my problem-solving abilities.

How would you describe the work environment at Techbros?

The work environment at Techbros is incredibly multicultural and friendly. As it is an Indonesian company, I've had the opportunity to learn about different cultural perspectives and work styles, which has broadened my worldview. The team is supportive and open-minded, creating a collaborative atmosphere where everyone feels valued.

What message or tips would you like to give to others starting their first internship?

One key piece of advice I would give to those starting their first internship is to choose your internship location wisely. It's important to find a place that values your contributions and offers meaningful experiences that align with your career goals. Don’t hesitate to voice your interests and seek opportunities to learn beyond your assigned tasks; taking initiative can lead to exciting projects and personal growth. Lastly, always maintain a curious mindset—being open to new challenges and feedback can greatly enhance your learning journey.

How International Roaming Keeps You Connected Without the Hassle of SIM Card Swaps

When you’re traveling abroad, staying connected is essential, whether it’s for checking maps, messaging loved ones, or sharing Instagram-worthy moments. But how does your mobile network operator (MNO) make this happen without requiring you to switch SIM cards or purchase a local plan in every country? Let us introduce you to International Roaming, a seamless service that allows you to stay connected wherever you are, thanks to a global web of partnerships between MNOs.

Here’s how it works: When you travel to another country, your domestic MNO “borrows” the network infrastructure of an operator in your destination. This collaboration ensures you can access cellular services—like calls, texts, and data—without changing your SIM card. It’s a behind-the-scenes handshake between network operators, and the result is smooth connectivity for you. However, before International Roaming can function reliably, rigorous testing needs to be conducted.

This systematic approach—testing across multiple countries and phases—highlights the effort required to ensure customers can stay connected effortlessly, whether they’re sipping espresso in Rome or taking selfies at the Eiffel Tower.

One of the 4G and 5G operators in Germany wants to confirm whether their SIM card can operate abroad. There are several test cases carried out for International Roaming. To date, we have carried out tests in eight countries which are divided into 3 phases.

First phase: Madrid, Spain — the Trial Phase. In this phase, there are several tests that can be carried out or not, therefore the test cases are modified to be more effective and optimal for evaluation.

The second and third phases are the Implementation Phase. The second phase includes five countries, namely Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, and the UK. In these five countries, all predetermined test cases were carried out and several successful results were obtained, as well as results that need to be evaluated deeper. Of course, MNO collaborates with relevant vendors to be able to solve the problem.

In the third phase, which took place in Belgium and the Netherlands, the test cases carried out were the same as the second phase and it can be concluded that several results have been reviewed and under review.

I moved to Germany from Ukraine 2.5 years ago, holding a Bachelor’s in English Philosophy & a Master’s and PhD in Public Administration. Having over 10 years of experience as an Assistant Professor and in International Relations, collaborating with stakeholders in a multicultural environment was a daily occurrence for me.

I dedicated my first two years in Germany learning the language, earning a C1 Certification. The AIoT Xperience Day held at our office in Düsseldorf on the 27th of September did just that! Together with Seeed Studio, UPLINK Network GmbH, Heliotics, and Infinetics, we organized an interactive workshop designed to unlock the potential of AI and Internet of Things (IoT). The workshop not only offered a chance to learn how to maximize the potential of AI and IoT through real-life demonstration, but also a chance to meet like-minded people and network with fellow change-makers and tech fans.

The workshop began with opening statements from Techbros CEO Yudhi Rahadian, Seeed Studio Business Development Manager Violet Su, UPLINK Network Product Manager Jubin Molai, and Heliotics CEO Miroslav Macko. They expressed their excitement about the potential that AI and IoT possess, and how the integration between the two technologies will unlock doors of opportunities.

“Now, AI and IoT aren’t just two stand-alone tools, but they’re a collaborative project,” Techbros CEO Yudhi Rahadian said in his opening statement. “This collaboration between Techbros, Seeed Studio, UPLINK Network, Heliotics, and Infinetics is based on our curiosity to find a connection between AI and IoT and how we can utilize that connection for the greater good, because if not us, then who?”

The workshop highlighted two innovations: Meshtastic and the XIAO Series. Meshtastic is an open-source mesh network built to run on affordable, low-power devices. Through the Explore Meshtastic workshop, participants gained knowledge on how to create decentralized, off-grid networks using LoRa tech to experience a seamless messaging transmission.

The Tinker with XIAO Devices part of the workshop, too, offered an eye-opening take on AI, especially for beginners. It taught participants how to train AI models hands-on using SenseCraft, a series of software services developed by Seeed Studio, and deploy them without any coding. XIAO aims for its users to be able to build their own AI sensors with ease and without the hassle of learning how to code beforehand.

Afterward, participants indulged themselves in traditional Indonesian food as they chatted away about their experience and what key takeaways they learned by attending the workshop. AIoT Xperience Day is a testament to our endless commitment to always offering cutting-edge solutions to communities worldwide that aim to break boundaries and ease their lives.

Known as one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of agricultural products, Indonesia’s agricultural sector plays a big role in the nation’s economic growth and the people’s welfare. It is with great honor to announce that, together with Telkom University, we are collaborating with the Livestock and Health Service (Dinas Peternakan dan Kesehatan/DPKS) Brebes in providing them with Aitelmoo, an AI-integrated tool that is able to detect cows’ body weight growth and health, as well as their food consumption using computer vision.

“AI is not limited to basic tasks, such as scriptwriting or translation work, but it can do so much more. If developed and utilized correctly, AI can be our companion in solving different problems, one being providing accurate weight measurements for cows, like our Aitelmoo.”

For this project, we are targeting the cows located in DPKS’ Cattle Farming Area in Maribaya, Central Java, which serve two purposes: breeding and meat production. Our Elang AI technology will be integrated into Aitelmoo to create a Weight Detection System that can provide real-time data on animal weight, enabling prompt action and better animal care. Accurate weight measurements also contribute to fair pricing mechanisms when selling cow meat at the Wage Market in Brebes.

Aitelmoo utilizes Edge Computing, in which a camera and a computer system are needed to deliver the data of the cows’ weight. A camera will capture the cows’ physique, before delivering it to the AI Monitoring System. Users will then see the results through a website or their desktop once the system finishes analyzing the data. In its operational, Aitelmoo uses OpenRAN or Open Wi-Fi technology.

At the moment, cows are the main target for Aitelmoo. However, this use case for body weight measurements can also be implemented towards goats, which has become one of our main goals for Aitelmoo in the future.

The event, which was held from April 17-21, 2023, was attended by 4,000+ exhibitors from 23 different countries and attracted 130,000+ visitors. The Opening Ceremony of Hannover Messe 2023 was held on April 16, 2023, and was opened by remarks from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo. “Making Indonesia 4.0 is a very relevant theme for Indonesia, which is transforming its economy through innovation and technology,” said Jokowi in his speech. “Indonesia is not closing itself, in fact, we (Indonesia) are very open to investment and cooperation in building downstream industries in Indonesia,” continued Jokowi. This statement is certainly a trigger that Hannover Messe 2023 is a great opportunity for technology industry players to develop business, expand relationships, and showcase capabilities.

Not only the exhibition agenda but this event was also interspersed with a presentation agenda that managed to invite 1,870 speakers on ten different stages. This year, Yudhi Rahadian, as Chief Executive Officer of Techbros, had the opportunity with Jubin Molai, as Product Manager of IoT at Uplink Network GmbH, to present on ‘5G Private Network: The Gamechanger for Smart Agriculture’. The judges and participants awarded this presentation an honorable mention. “Revolutionizing agriculture with the Internet of Farming: Harnessing the power of technology to cultivate sustainable, efficient, and connected agriculture,” said Yudhi during his presentation.

Not only participating as a speaker, Techbros, who also collaborated with Uplink Network GmbH, participated in the signing of the MoU of the grand cooperation between Indonesia and Germany. The agenda resulted in 19 cooperation signings between Indonesia and Germany, including G2G (Indonesian-German Government), B2B, and G2B cooperation. The Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang, stated that the signing of the collaboration at Hannover Messe was worth US$2 billion or equivalent to Rp29.7 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp14,882). Representing Indonesia, Techbros cooperates with Uplink Network GmbH as the German party to commit to digital transformation and Industry 4.0. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, witnessed the MoU signing agenda, along with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Coordinating Minister for the Economy of the Republic of Indonesia Airlangga Hartaro, Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia Agus Gumiwang, Director General of KPAII of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia Eko S.A Cahyanto, and various other essential parties. “Through this collaboration, it is hoped that Techbros will be able to become a bridge between Indonesia and Germany to welcome digital transformation because Germany, with a background in engineering, can create a bridge between Indonesia and Germany,” Yudhi said.

Techbros along with 150+ exhibitors from Indonesia also attended the invitation of Indonesia Country Night, which is a friendly event among Indonesian contributors at Hannover Messe 2023. Indonesia’s journey to become an official partner country of Hannover Messe 2023 has been fought since 2022, until finally April 2023 Indonesia occupied hall 2 Hannover Fairground. The Indonesian pavilion carries the concept of a pinisi ship, which symbolizes the image of Indonesia that is ready to go global, visionary, and optimistic in facing future challenges. Techbros Helping Local Farmers in Humbahas Through Smart Agriculture Concepts

Here at Techbros, we always put our utmost effort into empowering the people around us, in hopes that our support can contribute actively and sustainably towards their journey in unlocking their full potential. The agricultural sector is one of the most pertinent sectors here in Indonesia, and we are always looking for ways to propel it forward through digital transformation and IT integration. Thus, we partnered up with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs (Kemenko Marves) to hold the Smart Agriculture Solutions Showcase Exhibition at the Public Works and Public House (Pekerjaan Umum dan Perumahan Rakyat/PUPR) Building located in the Pollung District in Humbang Hasundutan (Humbahas) Regency, North Sumatera, on the 26th of October 2022.

Apart from the exhibition, a discussion forum was held between Techbros and Kemenko Marves with local farmers in the Humbahas Food Estate area. The discussion aims to find solutions for harvest-related issues that are faced daily by farmers. Through the acknowledgment of these issues, Techbros can further develop the appropriate smart agriculture solutions suitable to help farmers solve their problems.

“We want to actively support the Humbahas Food Estate program initiated by the government through the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs,” Techbros Project Manager Yosua Hutapea stated. “Techbros will provide smart agriculture-based solutions through technological innovations that can easily be accessed using the internet. We want to carry out direct trials in the field.”

Techbros has developed two main tools to help local farmers, namely Elang AI Aitelmoo and Plant Disease Classifier. Elang AI Aitelmoo is a tool equipped with computer vision that serves the purpose of detecting cows’ body weight growth and health levels, as well as their food consumption.

Meanwhile, Plant Disease Classifier is a tool used to detect the types of crops and their diseases. This tool allows its users to read the conditions of a specific crop by placing its leaf on the machine, before it gives the farmers recommendations on how to treat the crop properly. Following the trial runs for these tools, Yosua hopes that smart agriculture concepts can ease harvest activities in the future, which will hopefully boost local farmers’ productivity and increase the quality of their crops.

Other than Techbros, two technologies developed by Advanced Creative Networks Research Center (AdCNet) and Telkom University’s Faculty of Applied Sciences were introduced at the Smart Agriculture Solutions Showcase Exhibition.

Telkom University Staff Galih Prihartanto revealed that one of the technologies is an Internet of Things (IoT)-based nutrient detector. The tool can detect and retrieve data on plants’ nutrients in the soil via nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) sensors, as well as humidity sensors. Retrieved data will then be processed by a microcontroller, before users can see the data on the screen and receive a copy of it with the help of IoT. Using this tool, farmers can choose the best treatment for their crops.

“Another tool that we developed is the Auto Switching of hybrid power plants, which sources energy from sunlight and wind,” Galih Prihartanto continued. “This tool is equipped with sensors and switches that can regulate the battery charging input based on the largest value of electrical energy produced by solar or wind turbine.”

Fortuna Argatech was also among the participants. They introduced two innovations: Landslide Monitoring System and Weather Station. Fortune Agratech representative Arifin Ardi revealed that Landslide Monitoring System can monitor real-time soil conditions, as well as record and provide notifications for early warning signs of potential landslides, while Weather Station serves to collect actual weather-related data at the designated locations.

In order for the farmers to utilize the technologies provided by Techbros, Telkom University, and Fortuna Agratech, the TIP Community Lab of Telkom University will install three free Wi-Fi spots at the PUPR Building to further assist the farmers in accessing the smart agriculture solutions.

Field Manager Food Estate and Kemenko Marves Staff Dr Van Basten Panjaitan expressed his support for smart agriculture solutions that have a direct impact on the nation’s sustainable development. He also sees these solutions as a way to facilitate farming activities and streamline agricultural costs.

“This collaboration is the government’s effort to continue increasing food yields from all sides, including technology. Technology cannot move without human knowledge. Therefore, it is hoped that this knowledge transfer will be sustainable so that the benefits can be felt directly by farmers,” said Van Basten.

Broadening Students’ International Exposure, Techbros Offers Global Internship Program with Telkom University

Aligned with our core values of Collaboration and Excellence, here at Techbros we are always on the lookout for ways to contribute to a better future of Indonesia. Together with Telkom University, we organized an internship program for Telkom University students to not only learn and grow at Techbros, but to directly apply the knowledge and skills they have on a larger, more global scale, allowing them to expand their network and maximize their potential.

The Grand Launching of this program was conducted online, attended by more than 200 individuals from Techbros and Telkom University. Students were eager to hear in-depth information about the program as it offers the opportunity to conduct an internship at a global tech company.

During the Leader’s Talk session of the webinar, Techbros CEO Yudhi Rahadian stated that the people at Techbros are collaborative, passionate about learning and discovering new things, and persistent problem solvers who possess analytical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills. We hope to find these qualities in Telkom University’s bright-minded students, as well as those who are able to be creative and generate fresh, new ideas for the industry.

“For this program, Techbros will assist students in three main stages consisting of preparation, selection, and implementation,” CEO Yudhi Rahadian revealed.

The Global Internship program consists of three main stages including preparation, selection, and implementation. Registered students will first conduct an interview session with our team to tell their passion and skills, which affect which group they will work in. These groups will then be divided into three fellowship programs for the next two and a half months: 5G Technology, Big Data, and AI.

We always aim for longevity and sustainable relationships with various partners, Telkom University included, and that is why Techbros’ Global Internship alumni have the opportunity to build a career at Techbros. We also provide recommendations for aforementioned alumni which will hopefully help them for their future career plans.

This internship aims for students to always be aware and keep up to date with the latest technological advancements as the IT world continues to change rapidly. Bridging Internet Access Gaps and Empowering the Economy in Indonesia’s Rural Areas Through TechbrosFI and Elang AI

Albeit the annual increase of Internet users in Indonesia, with Statista.com reporting the number of increments of up to 10 million users every year (per January 2022), Indonesia is still faced with the challenge of uneven Internet penetration distribution throughout the nation. This inequality serves as a threat to Indonesia’s efforts to boost digitalization and increase digital economic growth.

Internet access disparities are caused by various factors, one of the biggest reasons being Indonesia’s geographical conditions which consists of tens of thousands of islands, some less accessible than others. Both the government and private sectors view this as a challenge in optimizing the country’s digital economy. If disparities in Internet access are not addressed properly and immediately, economic inequality between regions could increase, as the key factors to a country’s equal distribution of prosperity include equal economic growth and Internet access distribution.

Acknowledging this challenge, Techbros CEO Yudhi Rahadian stated that everyone deserves equal opportunities and rights to enjoy Internet access, especially those who live in rural areas.

For this reason, we developed the TechbrosFI Private Network to equalize Internet access. This innovation is supported by Magma Core and Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) technologies which carry open-source principles.

Internet to Empower Rural Society’s Economy

Yudhi believes that the existence of the Internet is not only limited to accessing information or using E-commerce and social media platforms. He believes that the Internet can be a tool to empower people by breaking through barriers they did not know was possible and unlocking their true potential. With that, the Internet can positively impact society, economically and socially.

In actualizing this, we collaborated with solution integrators by implementing 4G and 5G-based private networks using Open RAN technology. “With TechbrosFI, we do not just offer technology, but also solutions in an all-exclusive bundle, starting from Open Mobile Core, Open RAN, to Elang AI,” Yudhi revealed.

Our private network technology has been implemented to empower the economy of communities in rural areas. One of them is developing the economic potential of Pollung District in Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra, using private network technology and Elang AI.

“Technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, or data science will never operate optimally in an area if they are not supported by adequate Internet,” Yudhi explained. “That is why we decided to ‘merge’ TechbrosFI, private networks, and Elang AI into our pilot project in Pollung District.”

Through this project, we hope that TechbrosFI and Elang AI can assist Humbang Hasundutan farmers in determining planting and harvesting seasons, potential crops, and the amount of fertilizers to use.

Apart from North Sumatra, we have also reached Alor Island located in Nusa Tenggara Timur. We see Alor Island as an area with high marine tourism potential that has not been reached by digital infrastructure yet. In order to maximize the local community’s economic potential, we collaborated with the Alor Regional Government and local communities.

“For Alor, we are currently building awareness to local communities. By building a strong Internet through private networks, digital nomads can work in a hybrid setup from Alor Island. Automatically, their existence will also help stimulate the economy of the people of Alor,” Yudhi explained.

Not limited to Alor, private networks are also implemented in other rural areas. We are planning to spread our private network in thousands of villages to support the equal distribution of Internet access throughout Indonesia.

With Magma Core and Open RAN technologies, villages in rural areas can own private networks independently. Private networks can also be utilized by manufacturing industries or institutions located in remote areas with limited Internet service.

Yudhi hopes with the existence of Internet, the people of Indonesia will become more empowered so that the economy and social conditions will develop further.

More Efficient

Yudhi stated that private networks implementation is more efficient compared to other networks because it does not require high investment costs to build a BST tower. In terms of components and supporting devices, private networks are also more affordable with open source principles.

The Open RAN technology also adopts an open interface concept. People can use a combination of radio devices, such as radio units and basebands, without being tied to one specific brand. Open RAN also offers standardized open technology and a more competitive cost structure, which provides operators the opportunity to further develop the network.

“That way, private network users have more options in choosing a vendor that can provide the best business case. Operators can streamline capital and operational expenditure,” Yudhi explained.

In terms of security, private networks are more guaranteed than wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) networks, with added security measures.

“AI for Everyone” is not just a catchy motto that we at Techbros invented, but it is also our mission. We want to make artificial intelligence (AI) as accessible and user-friendly as possible, so everyone can be positively impacted and feel the benefits of it. That is why, during the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Summit (AIIS) 2021, we introduced our Elang AI technology.

During the summit, CEO Yudhi Rahadian became the rockstar speaker for the AI Expert category. He expressed our mission to make AI a tool to ease daily activities, as opposed to a tool to overrule our lives. Yudhi explained that the implementation of Elang AI can be done in urban and rural areas, further highlighting the fact that everyone deserves to feel the direct advantages of AI regardless of their geographical location. “The AI and Edge technology in Elang AI can give solutions to assist in both business operations and daily activities,” Yudhi explained. “Elang AI is a computer vision development platform used to create and implement machine learning in edge devices.”

Elang AI is equipped with a deep learning model that can be personalized according to one’s needs.
